Welcome to Zachariah Connell! Zachariah Connell Elementary School is located in the city of Connellsville and is named for its founder. Our school is a K-6 facility built in 1966. It currently houses approximately 400 students and a staff of 60. One of Zach Connell’s unique features is the diverse make up of its student population. An important focus of our staff is to encourage students to respect and value the differences in others. The staff prides itself on working very hard to help our students meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Law. Our students have earned the Keystone Award twice for meeting Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) improvement targets for two consecutive years. Our school has a history of promoting innovative programs such as after-school science sessions and a summer art camp. We are presently the only elementary school in Fayette, Greene, and Washington County to receive a grant to implement the Olweus Bullying Program. This important program will be in place during the 2006-2007 school year. Zach Connell’s staff recognizes the importance of maintaining a positive working relationship with our parents. We will continue to provide informational parent workshops and work closely with our PTO. We hope this web page will become a useful resource for our parents.
