Title IX
Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities.
The Connellsville Area School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, national origin or age in its education programs, activities and employment.
What is Sexual Harassment?
Violence that is “so severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive that it effectively denies a person equal
access” to education.
Types of Sexual Misconduct that are covered under Title IX
- Dating Violence
- Domestic Violence
- Quid Pro Quo
- Sexual Assault
- Stalking
Reporting & Retaliation
- Any person can make a written or verbal report to the Title IX coordinator at any time.
- Reporting to the Title IX coordinator does not prevent a person from making a report to law enforcement or
- another agency.
- Retaliation against someone for exercising their rights under Title IX is prohibited and can result in
- disciplinary action.
What happens after a report is received? Schools must:
- Respond promptly and offer supportive measures.
- Treat all parties equitably.
- Not impose disciplinary sanction without following the grievance process and a finding of responsibility.
